Change the World, One Good Deed at a Time PDF Print E-mail

Together, we can bring joy to the world. One deed at a time.Greteman Group and The Wichita Eagle have recently launched a campaign - called Do the Deed - to inspire and spread small acts of kindness.

"Our commitment to the people of south-central Kansas dates back to our founding 137 years ago," says Pam Siddall, publisher and president of The Wichita Eagle, the state's largest daily. "When Greteman Group approached us with the Do the Deed concept, we knew we wanted to be the lead partner. Especially now at the holidays, this action-oriented, community-building campaign reminds us that the greatest gift can sometimes be the smallest gesture."

The Wichita Eagle and Kansas.com are using their unrivaled reach to communicate the initiative - from full-page color ads and front-page sticky notes to rich-media online ads and video. In addition to developing the creative, Greteman Group designed an interactive microsite: DoTheDeed.org. All materials - including a leave-behind, business-sized card - serve to drive people to the microsite.

The Eureka Springs Trip PDF Print E-mail

victoriangroup            On June 4 - 7, Girl Scout Troop 40880 of Belle Plaine took a trip to Eureka Springs, AR.  Their trip started Thursday with a stop at Henry’s Candy Company in Dexter, KS. The girls were able to stop for lunch in the park in Baxter Springs. The last stop of the day was in Bentonville, AR to visit a Vietnam Memorial at the local airport.

Friday the girls spent the day in Eureka Springs, starting at the Eureka Springs and North Arkansas Railway, where they rode the train and were able to see what happens when money is left on the tracks.  After the train ride they were off to Judge Roy Bean’s Old Time Photos, where they all dressed in clothes from the Victorian era and had their pictures taken.  They panned for gems at the Cosmic Cavern and saw two bottomless lakes.  After supper, it was time for the last activity of the day, the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Music Theater- the girls had a laughing good time and also got to meet the cast.

Saturday ended up being much more relaxed.  The day was spent at the lake house fishing and hiking at Beaver Dam. Sunday was time to head back home, although the girls wanted to spend much more time at the lake.

Thanks to all of those who made the trip possible!

Volunteer Appreciation Event - Wichita PDF Print E-mail
dsc02201The Wichita region had a great volunteer appreciation event on Sunday April 19 with 86 people in attendance. The theme revolved around the 50's so the room was decorated with a juke box, lots of colorful music notes and a fun 50's border. Our refreshments were delicious: ice cream floats and homemade cookies! The best part was the volunteers who were recognized for their exemplary service to the Girl Scouts. Jackie Burnett "took the cake" by receiving the coveted Gladys Wiedemann Award. We appreciate and thank our volunteers for all of your time, skills and service!

Troop Has Howlin' Good Time at Great Wolf Lodge PDF Print E-mail

great_wolf_lodgeSubmitted by Troop 40277 (Wichita)

Our troop took a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, Kansas. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. Some highlights were the awesome water slides, the challenging big foot pass climb, the lazy river and the soothing hot tub. We also enjoyed the arcade and the fabulous food. We learned a lot about managing money and about price checking as each one of us had only $40 to make it through 1 dinner, 2 lunches, 1 breakfast and the gift shop! The car ride there and back was a great opportunity to view the beautiful plains, we took tons of pictures. It was a great bonding experience and we hope to have another adventure soon.
