How Can Participation In Girl Scouts Add Value To a Girl's Life?
Social pressures, image issues and uncertainty in our world...girls are faced with many choices as they navigate the road to adulthood. As a Girl Scout she has a "girls only" network of friends and adult mentors to guide her. She grows in confidence as she develops her leadership skills; learns to understand and respect others; is encouraged to make positive decisions based on strong values; and contributes to make the world a better place.
What Do Girl Scouts Do?
Girls can do just about anything in the Girl Scouts. There are opportunities for:
Adventure - like river rafting in the Rockies
Learning - spend the night in a museum
Doing - making blankets for agencies in your community
Leading - meeting with city planners to present information on homelessness in the community
Accomplishing - earning awards, learning new skills, conquering a fear
Networking - meeting with other Girl Scouts near and far
See what we mean? Just about anything! Girls meet in groups where they work together on projects and ideas or they can skip the group and participate in the many activities sponsored by Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland.
Girl Scout program activities are open to all girls who are members of Girl Scouting, are based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law, follow health and safety standards, and are done with the support of caring, trained adults.
Signing up to be a member is easy, fill out this form with your parents and then contact your local council office.
What is the Girl Scout mission?
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
What is a council?
A council is the commonly used name for the corporation, a group of employees and board of directors that support Girl Scouts in your area. A national organization, Girl Scouts of the USA, puts councils in place all over the nation to make sure that girls are offered the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts.
