The GSUSA national convention
was held in Houston, Texas and was
the kickoff for 100th Anniversary
celebrations. GSKH was represented by
10 Volunteers, nine staff members, 12
Girl Scouts to the Girl Scout Leadership
Institute, and seven delegates.
Six Girl Scouts and two
chaperones traveled to Japan
to participate in the festivities
of the 50th Anniversary
Friendship Exchange between
Kiryu Japanese and Yokosuka
American Girl Scouts.
Girl Scout week, March 11-17,
2012, unveiled a historical display
of the past century of Girl Scouting
in partnership with the Eisenhower
Presidential Library and Museum
in Abilene.
Kay Bachofer portrayed the
Girl Scout founder, Juliette
Low, for more than 20 years
so that all of us could learn
more about our Girl Scout
heritage. She was awarded the
very frst Juliette Gordon Low
Achievement Award by the
council in March. Kay passed
away peacefully Tuesday, May 15,
2012. Her animated and fostering
spirit was well known and her
volunteerismechoed her love
for the Salina community and
the advancement of children
The IMAGINE: Your STEM Future Academy
took 40 girls to explore and learn at
Exploration Place, the Cargill Innovations
center inWichita and the Cosmosphere in
Hutchinson, among others.
