The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) programenables girls to
better understand the Girl Scout practices and principles
related to camping and outdoor education. The Counselor-
in-Training leadership training was developed to afford
High School Girl Scouts the opportunity to experience
the challenges and rewards of working with younger girls
in an outdoor setting. Becoming a CIT also enables High
School Girl Scouts to gain insights into the responsibilities
of managing a camp through direct involvement in daily
administrative activities.
This summer’s CIT’s will be paid a stipend for working at the
following camps:
• American Girl
• Girl Power
• Animals Camp
• Wildlifer Challenge
• Dabbler
Teens who earn the CIT award are given a special
opportunity to serve as champions for the Girl Scout
Leadership Experience. As they serve in their roles high
school girls can help grow awareness of Girl Scouting’s
aim to deliver fun with purpose: enjoyable and challenging
activities that grow girls’ leadership in their daily lives
and in the world. Participating in the CIT Training Camp
will earn you the first part of the award, working with girls
throughout camp sessions will complete the requirements.

process to carry out the vision of the Girl Scouts
