Girls’ Night at the Mall @ The Mall at Hays

Girls – come to the Mall in Hays to enjoy shopping, friends, fun, dancing, body art, an inflatable obstacle course, workshops, crafts, games and prizes! No tagalongs please; there will be separate sleeping quarters for dads wishing to participate. Snack Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning are included. All Daisies must have an adult chaperone; troops must meet age level girl-to-adult ratio.

Register to be a Girl Scout on time and join us for a fun time at the Starlight Skating Rink. Skate, dance, play games, stretch, stay fit! Not yet a Girl Scout? Just add $15 to the event cost! Fun patch included. Hot dog and drink included.

Painting with a Splash of Style @ Baker Arts Center

Young artists will explore different styles of painting and view examples on display in the current gallery exhibit for inspiration. They will create their own paintings to fulfill some of the requirements for the Painting Badge.          Snack provided.

Mother-Daughter Camp for Daisies and Brownies @ Camp Wood
Oct 4 @ 6:30 pm – Oct 5 @ 12:30 pm

Mothers and daughters will have a bonding time while enjoying activities and spending the night at Camp Wood in Elmdale. Lodging fees: $14 for RV/Tent/Rustic Cabin; $22 for Jones Village. Optional Fees: $13 for short-sleeved T-shirt; $16 for long-sleeved T-shirt. All meals and snacks included. Please, no Tag-a-longs. Starry Night Artists’ Lock-In Session 1 @ CityArts

Girls will earn their entire Artist’s badge while working with our instructors. We will then tour CityArts, including a glassblowing demonstration, and then settle in for the night by enjoying some popcorn and watching a video about a famous artist. Artists will get to take home everything they create. Breakfast included. Please, no tag-a-longs. Age Level Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met

Somewhere in Time @ Finney County Historical Museum
Oct 5 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Have you ever wondered what used to be in that old building or how old that building is? Come learn the history of Garden City while strolling down “Main” street, ending the adventure with ice cream at the local soda fountain. Please plan to bring a water bottle, sack lunch and jacket, all in a backpack. Backup weather date: November 2nd. Earn the Celebrating Community badge. Ice Cream snack provided; please bring a water bottle and a sack lunch. Please, no tag-a-longs. Age Level Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met.

Painting Like Picasso Session 1 @ CityArts
Oct 11 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Painting Like Picasso will include a class that will teach young artists the painting techniques of abstract painters such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch. Artists will create a masterpiece of their own that will earn them at least 3 steps of their painting badge. This trip will also include a tour of CityArts, where students will see the ceramics studio, silversmithing studio and watch a glassblowing demonstration! Artists get to take home their artwork. All supplies are included. No snack provided. Please, no tag-a-longs. Age Level Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met.

Girl Scout Day at Walters Pumpkin Patch
Oct 18 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Girls and their Troops and families can have a FUN day at Walter’s Pumpkin Patch.

Come anytime from 10am-6pm and enjoy fun activities and a hayrack ride at 2pm

Girl Scouts will get a FREE pumpkin and a patch for attending. You will need to be there before 2pm to go on hayrack ride and get your pumpkin.

Troops must provide their own first aid/cpr person as stated in Safety Activity Checkpoints

Families welcome to attend.

Girl Scout Campout! Session 1 @ Sternberg Museum of Natural History
Oct 18 @ 7:00 pm – Oct 19 @ 8:30 am

Enjoy an evening on the new Dr. Howard Reynolds Nature Trails. Explore a variety of habitats across 22 acres in the light and at night. Learn about prairie survival techniques, and plants and animals on the prairies as we wind our way around the trails. We will play games, take a pit stop at the campfire, and do many other outdoor activities. Be ready to “campout” in the Museum. Snacks and Breakfast are included. There will be a separate sleeping area available for dads wishing to attend. No tag-a-longs, please. Each Daisy must be accompanied by an adult.

Fair Play and Practice with a Purpose @ Fort Hays State
Oct 19 @ 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Meet the Lady Tiger Athletes from FHSU and learn the importance of playing fair and setting goals by playing fun games! Brownies will earn the Fair Play Badge; Juniors will earn the Practice with a Purpose Badge. Girls will receive tickets for the football game and concession stand vouchers, so families are encouraged to watch the game immediately after the event! Additional tickets to the game are $5. Familes are welcome during the game and to watch the girls perform at halftime. Concession Stand open during game.

Girl Scout Fairy Faire @ Amend Girl Scout Center

All girls in grades K-5 are invited to find their inner fairy at the Girl Scout Fairy Faire! We will decorate fairy wings, make fairy houses, eat fair snacks, and watch a fairy movie. each girl will also receive a fairy fun patch to wear on her sash, vest, or tunic. The cost of this event is $10.00. Financial assistance is available. The deadline for registration is Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Save, Spend and It’s Better to Give @ First National Bank

Let’s go shopping! For groceries, clothes, school supplies… Learn how to make decisions on “needs” vs “wants” and determine what items may be more important than others. Sometimes you can’t always buy everything, so what do you choose? Set a budget, shop and discuss why you chose to buy what you did. Once you can budget, become skilled at saving. Brainstorm ways to give back to those in need. Earn both the Money Manager and Philanthropist badges. Drink and snack provided.

Haunted Stroll @ Starwoods Outdoor Center

Join us for this annual, Starwoods Halloween favorite! This year’s theme will be Zombies!! Daisies and Brownies can enjoy games and activities from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. The older girls (Juniors through Ambassadors) will be invited out to stroll along the haunted Boo Bash Trail from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Haunted Stroll 2013 limited edition bags are available for purchase; get yours today! Orders for the bags can be placed when registering for the event, and there will be a small supply for purchase at the event. Snack included. All are welcome to attend. Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met.

Mad Science @ Community Center

This is your chance to participate in cool science experiments as a “certified”  mad scientist!  Join us on October 24 from 6-9 p.m. and discover the fun side of science.  There will be a mad science costume contest.  Bring a new friend who joins Girl Scouts ($15) and she gets in FREE! Leaves, pumpkins and mums galore… Get ready, girls, to explore! Daisies and Brownies will gain inspiration for the season through a fall stroll in the Woodland Garden. You will gather natural items from our walk to create a fall “fairy”. You will also plant living centerpieces and make a sweet autumn treat. You are always welcome to pack a picnic lunch and spend the rest of the day exploring the botanical gardens. Sorry – a waiting list is not available for this session. Snack provided.
