This course provides you with the skills needed to successfully perform First-Aid and CPR. At the conclusion of this course you will be First-Aid and CPR certified by the National Safety Council. This course includes a home-study portion, and then skills and written testing with a certified instructor. Once you have registered, you will need to pick up or make arrangements for delivery of your home study materials. Participants must be physically able to perform the basic skills required for CPR. Participants will not be allowed to enter the class if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the class begins.

Across the council, girls and adults will come together for specially designed workshops on finding the leader in each of us, and empowering girls to discover their true leadership potential.

The keynote speaker for the Wichita event is Miss Kansas Theresa Vail.  The sessions will be centered around 5 main topics which are listed below.

Outdoor Leadership Training 101/201 @ Starwoods Outdoor Center/Lilly's Pad

This combined overnight course prepares the volunteer for semi primitive camping outside your community, as well as backyard campouts, day camps, and camping adventures within your own community or at any Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Camp property. You will experience the demonstration of outdoor cooking methods and fire building as well as the procedures for pitching, striking and caring for tents. Additional outdoor skills and activities that can be added to the girl program are included in this workshop.  Prerequisites – Outdoor Leadership -100 Home-study.

This course provides you with the skills needed to successfully perform First-Aid and CPR, and to train others in First-Aid and CPR.  For your own First-Aid and CPR certification, you will complete a home-study portion, and then skills and written testing with a certified instructor.  Once you have registered, you will receive the materials for the home study.  At the conclusion of this full-day course you will be certified as an instructor of First-Aid and CPR by the National Safety Council.  Participants are asked to commit to facilitating First-Aid and CPR courses for the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland for a two-year term.  Exact end time may vary depending on the number of participants.

Haunted Stroll @ Starwoods Outdoor Center

Join us for this annual, Starwoods Halloween favorite! This year’s theme will be Zombies!! Daisies and Brownies can enjoy games and activities from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. The older girls (Juniors through Ambassadors) will be invited out to stroll along the haunted Boo Bash Trail from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Haunted Stroll 2013 limited edition bags are available for purchase; get yours today! Orders for the bags can be placed when registering for the event, and there will be a small supply for purchase at the event. Snack included. All are welcome to attend. Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met.
