Come celebrate Earth Day at Camp Double E with games, crafts and songs. Lunch and snacks provided. This event is designed so you could utilize this day as a babysitting alternative. Girl Scouts will have a fun and educational day! Troops and individual girls are welcome. Ask how a non-Girl Scout may attend.

Is college for me? How is college different than high school? Am I ready for college? Come have breakfast with Dr Karla Fisher, Vice President of Academics at Butler Community College (BCC) for answers to these questions and more. A campus tour and information about BCC programs will be provided. One attendee will receive a 15-hour scholarship (valued at approximately $1,250.00) to Butler Community College. Attendees must write a one-page letter describing how the scholarship would further their academic goals to be eligible for the scholarship. Breakfast included.

Pioneer Days @ Elk City State Park

Come explore the life of a pioneer girl.  Make your own butter, play games the children might have played as they crossed the prairie, go fishing and make a craft.  Saturday lunch provided.  Brownies will pitch their tents and spend the night. Breakfast will be provided Sunday morning before the Brownies break camp.  Troops must provide their own tents. No busing provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

6th Grade Trip to Estes Park @ Estes Park

Girls will learn responsibility, leadership, conflict resolution and learn team-building as they venture out as individual Girl Scouts without their troop or family members to Estes Park, Co. Adult volunteers will gudie them through this experience. It is up to the girls to decide their activities, which could include horseback riding, swimming, roller skating, hiking, mini-golf, volleyball, basketball, board games and more. Additional fee of $30 for horseback riding. $50.00 Non-refundable deposit required with reservation. Adults interested in chaperoining must submit an adult reservation form, which can be found at www.kansasgirlscout.org. Meals and transportation from Hays are included.

Pack Your Suitcase; Take a Brownie Journey! @ Ellis Public Library Community Room

Brownie friends along with Brownie Elf will enjoy a wonder-filled water adventure! They will learn about the water cycle, make rainbows, and pledge to love and conserve water and advocate within their communities how to use water resourcefully. Brownies – discover your inner artist and earn the Potter, Painting, and Dancer badges all at the same time! Activities will include drawing and painting using spoons, sponges, and more. Try your hand on the potter’s wheel and learn how to make a clay creation. And, get your groove going with fun-tastic dance classes! Be sure to dress for some messy, fun days. Do you like movies, TV, books or plays? Who’s telling these stories, anyway? Why not you? Create your own story in a variety of mediums including comics, scripts and more. Work with your friends to learn the visual and performance techniques of storytelling and create a comic and short play. Go on a trip to get a firsthand look at book-binding and printing, and then design your very own book from scratch. Hang out with your friends and create your story at the Emporia Arts Center! A snack is provided, but girls must bring a sack lunch. Busing is not provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

Program Aide Training @ Starwoods Outdoor Learning Center

Ladies, this is your opportunity to become a Program Aide (PA) for our Summer Daisy programs! Spend the day at Starwoods learning what it takes to be a junior counselor. During your training, you will have the opportunity to choose the week of day camp you would like to work, so bring your calendar!  Have fun learning what it takes to work with Daisies, with the Starwoods staff, to complete the first requirement towards your PA Award, and see all that traditional camp has to offer. This training is not necessary for girls wanting to become PAs, but it is required to work as a PA at Starwoods. Lunch will be provided but not busing. A waiting list is available for this session. Ladies, this is your opportunity to become a Counselor in Training for our summer programs! Spend four days and four nights at Starwoods learning what it takes to be a counselor. This is an opportunity you must take seriously. On the last day of this camp, you will have a chance to interview for paid positions at our summer camps. Have fun learning what it takes with the new Starwoods staff while still having time to bond with other Girl Scouts and experience traditional camp activities. All girls chosen to work will earn the CIT Award. Lodging is provided, must you must provide your own bedding. $20 pays for all meals, but snacks are not included. No busing is provided. To Respect Myself and Others: Victorian Etiquette and Amusements – Session 1 @ Old Cowtown Museum

Have fun learning about a long-ago time. Victorian children were expected to learn and follow the rules of society. Some of those same rules are a part of modern life. Girl Scouts will experiment using the proper actions in the correct circumstances and learn how manners demonstrate respect for themselves and others.
