Aluminum Can Drive – Reno County @ Midwest Iron and Metal

Hutchinson troops are coordinating the Great American Can Roundup in conjunction with Earth Day. The public is encouraged to bring aluminum cans to Midwest Iron and Metal, 700 S. Main St. in Hutchinson on Saturday, April 26 between 8:00 a.m. and noon. What a great fundraiser for troops, and it’s great for the Earth!

Each Girl Scout who participates will receive a patch. Girls may participate with troops or as individuals.

Canceled-College 101-Andover Campus @ The Grizzly Den

Is college for me? How is college different than high school? Am I ready for college? Come have breakfast with Dr Karla Fisher, Vice President of Academics at Butler Community College (BCC) for answers to these questions and more. A campus tour and information about BCC programs will be provided. One attendee will receive a 15-hour scholarship (valued at approximately $1,250.00) to Butler Community College. Attendees must write a one-page letter describing how the scholarship would further their academic goals to be eligible for the scholarship. Breakfast included.

Swimming is great exercise and fun.  Enjoy swimming indoors with fellow Girl Scouts.  Expand your awareness of physical and mental health, feel good about yourself, stay safe and take care of yourself.  It’s so important to be physically active any time of the year, and indoor swimming is one way of staying active.

Put on your fancy attire — girls in party dresses and guys in neck ties — and your dancing shoes! Come shine like stars and celebrate your special bond. Enjoy posing for a professional portrait, participating in a dance contest, and sharing cool refreshments and a tasty dinner! Guys must be 18 or older, such as a dad, granddad, uncle or friend.

Patch Busters @ Pratt Veterans Memorial Lake - K-64

Come learn some new outdoor camping skills such as knife safety, knot tying, tent pitching, cooking, archery and compass. Have fun finding your activity supplies using your compass as geocaching, earn badges and three fun patches. The fee covers a lunch, a snack, the badges and patches.

It’s a Grand Old Flag Camp-O-Ree @ Camporee – Kanopolis Lake

Everything you wanted to know about the American Flag! We’ll have Swaps on Saturday and a pot luck dinner on Sunday night. There will be a campfire Friday night with singing and popcorn; Saturday night’s campfire will feature S’mores. A campfire flag-retirement ceremony will be conducted during this event. Not a Girl Scout? Add $15 to the event fee! Snacks provided Friday night, Saturday night, followed by a pot luck dinner Sunday. Girl to Adult Ratio must be met.

Spaceflight Explorer Camp-in @ Exploration Place
May 2 @ 6:00 pm – May 3 @ 10:00 am

Become a future space explorer, duplicate science experiments being done on Mars and explore the reaches of human space flight during this NASA-based camp-in. Then, camp out among the great architectural wonders of the world! Bring your overnight gear, water bottle and great attitude. Air mattresses, eye masks and cots are welcome. Snack and light breakfast provided. Please, no tag-a-longs. Age Level Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met. Dads are welcome to attend.

Pioneer Days @ Elk City State Park

Come explore the life of a pioneer girl.  Make your own butter, play games the children might have played as they crossed the prairie, go fishing and make a craft.  Saturday lunch provided.  Brownies will pitch their tents and spend the night. Breakfast will be provided Sunday morning before the Brownies break camp.  Troops must provide their own tents. No busing provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

Safety Day in Pratt
May 3 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join us for an afternoon of learning personal safety techniques. A karate instructor will teach you how to protect yourself in dangerous situations. The police department will register you for Ident-a-Kid. The Fire Department will share techniques to save yourself in a fire, etc. This is a come-and-go event, so plan to stay a couple of hours.

2nd Annual Flint Hills Service Unit Powder Puff Pinewood Derby @ Amend Girl Scout Center
May 3 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

All girls in  grades K-12 have the chance to create and race her own Pinewood Derby car. Participants will receive their car kits after completing the registration process. We will follow the official BSA Pinewood Derby rules. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each GS-USA scouting level, as well as overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Weigh-in begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. Races begin at 2:00 p.m. Fun patch included. Concession Stand available. Family and Friends are welcome to watch. Girl to Adult Ratio must be met.

This event is for girls and adults from the WNW SU.  They will be camping inside or out, doing badge work, bridging activities, outdoor cooking, crafts, information about the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, and more.  Families invited to attend the awards and bridging ceremony at Ceremony Island.

6th Grade Trip to Estes Park @ Estes Park

Girls will learn responsibility, leadership, conflict resolution and learn team-building as they venture out as individual Girl Scouts without their troop or family members to Estes Park, Co. Adult volunteers will gudie them through this experience. It is up to the girls to decide their activities, which could include horseback riding, swimming, roller skating, hiking, mini-golf, volleyball, basketball, board games and more. Additional fee of $30 for horseback riding. $50.00 Non-refundable deposit required with reservation. Adults interested in chaperoining must submit an adult reservation form, which can be found at www.kansasgirlscout.org. Meals and transportation from Hays are included.

Brownie friends along with Brownie Elf will enjoy a wonder-filled water adventure! They will learn about the water cycle, make rainbows, and pledge to love and conserve water and advocate within their communities how to use water resourcefully. Bring Camelot Back! Treat your entire family to a camping trip, includes all age Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
