1st Annual Ark City Powder Puff Derby @ United Methodist Church

Girls will design, construct and race a Pinewood Derby car! Then, they will race among peers in their Scout level. The winners will face off to see who becomes the Grand Champion!

Outdoor Leadership 101/201 – Ness City @ Ness County Fairgrounds, located on N Hwy. 283, Ness City, KS

This combined overnight course prepares the volunteer for semi primitive camping (tents, A-frames, rustic cabins, etc.) outside your community, as well as backyard campouts, day camps, and camping adventures within your own community or at any Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Camp property. You will experience the demonstration of outdoor cooking methods and fire building as well as the procedures for pitching, striking and caring for tents. Additional outdoor skills and activities that can be added to the girl program are included in this workshop.

Aluminum Can Drive – Reno County @ Midwest Iron and Metal

Hutchinson troops are coordinating the Great American Can Roundup in conjunction with Earth Day. The public is encouraged to bring aluminum cans to Midwest Iron and Metal, 700 S. Main St. in Hutchinson on Saturday, April 26 between 8:00 a.m. and noon. What a great fundraiser for troops, and it’s great for the Earth!

Each Girl Scout who participates will receive a patch. Girls may participate with troops or as individuals.

Swimming is great exercise and fun.  Enjoy swimming indoors with fellow Girl Scouts.  Expand your awareness of physical and mental health, feel good about yourself, stay safe and take care of yourself.  It’s so important to be physically active any time of the year, and indoor swimming is one way of staying active.

Come learn some new outdoor camping skills such as knife safety, knot tying, tent pitching, cooking, archery and compass. Have fun finding your activity supplies using your compass as geocaching, earn badges and three fun patches. The fee covers a lunch, a snack, the badges and patches.

It’s a Grand Old Flag Camp-O-Ree @ Camporee – Kanopolis Lake

Everything you wanted to know about the American Flag! We’ll have Swaps on Saturday and a pot luck dinner on Sunday night. There will be a campfire Friday night with singing and popcorn; Saturday night’s campfire will feature S’mores. A campfire flag-retirement ceremony will be conducted during this event. Not a Girl Scout? Add $15 to the event fee! Snacks provided Friday night, Saturday night, followed by a pot luck dinner Sunday. Girl to Adult Ratio must be met.

Spaceflight Explorer Camp-in @ Exploration Place

Become a future space explorer, duplicate science experiments being done on Mars and explore the reaches of human space flight during this NASA-based camp-in. Then, camp out among the great architectural wonders of the world! Bring your overnight gear, water bottle and great attitude. Air mattresses, eye masks and cots are welcome. Snack and light breakfast provided. Please, no tag-a-longs. Age Level Girl-to-Adult ratio must be met. Dads are welcome to attend.

Come explore the life of a pioneer girl.  Make your own butter, play games the children might have played as they crossed the prairie, go fishing and make a craft.  Lunch provided and a snack upon dismissal. No busing provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

Come explore the life of a pioneer girl.  Make your own butter, play games the children might have played as they crossed the prairie, go fishing and make a craft.  Brownies will pitch their tents and spend the night while Daisies enjoy the day and return home.  Saturday lunch provided for all.  Daisies will receive a snack upon dismissal.  Breakfast will be provided Sunday morning before the Brownies break camp.

Safety Day in Pratt
May 3 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join us for an afternoon of learning personal safety techniques. A karate instructor will teach you how to protect yourself in dangerous situations. The police department will register you for Ident-a-Kid. The Fire Department will share techniques to save yourself in a fire, etc. This is a come-and-go event, so plan to stay a couple of hours.

2nd Annual Flint Hills Service Unit Powder Puff Pinewood Derby @ Amend Girl Scout Center
May 3 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

All girls in  grades K-12 have the chance to create and race her own Pinewood Derby car. Participants will receive their car kits after completing the registration process. We will follow the official BSA Pinewood Derby rules. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each GS-USA scouting level, as well as overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Weigh-in begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. Races begin at 2:00 p.m. Fun patch included. Concession Stand available. Family and Friends are welcome to watch. Girl to Adult Ratio must be met.

Participant Minimum:  10

Participant Maximum: 100

Wichita Northwest Service Unit Campout @ Starwoods Outdoor Center Lodge

This campout is for registered girls and adults of the Wichita Northwest Service Unit (this is a Service Unit activity, not a council activity). If you are unsure of what service unit you are a part of, please contact your troop leader and/or send a question to wnwgirlscouts@gmail.com

We will have many camping activities, including sessions to complete the bridging requirements for all age levels. Invite guests (parents, mentors, etc.) for the bridging and awards ceremony from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening. All adult participants (including parents accompanying Daisies staying the night) must be registered as Girl Scouts and have completed a current volunteer application and background check within the last 3 years.

Northwest SU Campout

This event is for girls and adults from the WNW SU.  They will be camping inside or out, doing badge work, bridging activities, outdoor cooking, crafts, information about the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, and more.  Families invited to attend the awards and bridging ceremony at Ceremony Island.

Rosie’s Story Session 2 @ ProKansas Miller Recycling Center

Learn from Rosie Petal through an exciting story about taking care of our environment and the importance of recycling. Learn how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle through a special Daisy activity and interactive tour of ProKansas Miller Recycling Center. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather as we will be outdoors. Earn the Rosie Petal. No snack provided. Please, no tag-a-longs.
