Northwest SU Campout

This event is for girls and adults from the WNW SU.  They will be camping inside or out, doing badge work, bridging activities, outdoor cooking, crafts, information about the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, and more.  Families invited to attend the awards and bridging ceremony at Ceremony Island.

Mandan – Family Camp Camelot @ Mandan Boy Scout Camp

Bring Camelot Back! Treat your entire family to a camping trip, includes all age Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Kids can enjoy making their own helmets, shields, crowns, swords and Participate in archery and BB target shooting. All meals provided. Please bring camping equipment. Fun patch and T-shirt included. Please mark T-shirt size when registering. If you register by May 3, your price is $25; after May 3, pay $35 (registrations after May 16 cannot guarantee a T-shirt). Kids under 5 are free. Daisies must be accompanied by an adult. No busing provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

Family Outdoor Adventure Night @ Lakewood Discovery Center
Jun 19 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Bring your family and enjoy a fun night at Lakewood Discovery Center. Enjoy fishing, a “creature feature,” canoeing, archery and fixing a hot dog. Purchase a T-shirt for an additional cost! Rain-out fallback date will be July 10. Meal and Fun Patch included. Busing is not provided. A waiting list is available for this session.

Kansas goes Hollywood 2014 – Only $95 to enroll! Register by March 31, 2014

What is it like to live in the entertainment capital of the world? Well, you can experience the “sweet life” for yourself! On this trip, you’ll be escorted on a tour of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Venice Beach. You’ll stop (and shop!) on Rodeo Drive. Cruise down the Sunset Strip and stop on Hollywood Boulevard to walk on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and see the Mann’s Chinese and Kodak Theaters. See the Hollywood Sign, Mulholland Drive, Westwood Village, and much more! Just a few steps from the hostel, we will visit the beach, the pier amusement park complete with Ferris wheel, roller coaster and carnival games! There will also be time to shopping at the Third Street Promenade.

Girl Scout Zoo Day – Early Bird Event @ Brit Spaugh Zoo
Jun 22 @ 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Open to all girls in SU111 (Barton, Rush and Pawnee counties). Girls must re-register for the 2015 membership year in order to participate in this tour of the zoo. They will learn some interesting facts about the animals from zoo representatives. They will create animal enrichments: objects that stimulate the animals minds, as if they were in the wild. Have a snack and register to win one of four tickets to Jack Hannah’s presentation at BCCC and the zoo on Oct. 16, 2014! Non-registered GS family members will pay a $1 fee for the snack and program supplies. No busing is provided. A waiting list is not available for this session.

Wichita Wingnuts Family Campout @ Lawrence Dumont Stadium

Take me out to the ball game! Bring the family out to the diamond to enjoy an evening of Wingnuts baseball. After the game, families can participate in activities and enjoy a movie on the big screen! Tickets can be purchased directly through the Wichita Wingnuts ticket office. No food provided. Families will need to bring their own snack. Girls will earn parts of their athlete badges. Families will need to provide their own tents; no stakes allowed. No busing provided.

National S’mores Day & Dutch Oven Cook-off @ Ellis Public Library & Lakeside Campground
Aug 9 @ 10:00 am – 7:30 pm

Do you like S’mores? Giving back to your community? Outdoor cooking? Join us for National S’mores Day and the Dutch Oven Cook-off! On this day, girls and their families will participate in some community service projects, gather together to compete in a cooking contest and finish the evening with some delicious S’mores and songs around the campfire. Girl Scouts will each receive a Fun patch! This event is co-sponsored by Ellis Public Library and Ellis Recreation Commission. Lunch, dinner and snack are provided. No busing provided. A waiting list is not available for this session.
