Outdoor Leadership 101/201 @ Starwoods Outdoor Center/Spring Creek Inn

This combined overnight course prepares the volunteer for semi primitive camping outside your community, as well as backyard campouts, day camps, and camping adventures within your own community or at any Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Camp property. You will experience the demonstration of outdoor cooking methods and fire building as well as the procedures for pitching, striking and caring for tents. Additional outdoor skills and activities that can be added to the girl program are included in this workshop.  Prerequisites – Outdoor Leadership 100 – Home Study

Aluminum Can Drive – Reno County @ Midwest Iron and Metal

Hutchinson troops are coordinating the Great American Can Roundup in conjunction with Earth Day. The public is encouraged to bring aluminum cans to Midwest Iron and Metal, 700 S. Main St. in Hutchinson on Saturday, April 26 between 8:00 a.m. and noon. What a great fundraiser for troops, and it’s great for the Earth!

Each Girl Scout who participates will receive a patch. Girls may participate with troops or as individuals.

This event is for girls and adults from the WNW SU.  They will be camping inside or out, doing badge work, bridging activities, outdoor cooking, crafts, information about the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, and more.  Families invited to attend the awards and bridging ceremony at Ceremony Island.

This course provides you with the skills needed to successfully perform First-Aid and CPR. At the conclusion of this course, you will be First-Aid and CPR certified by the National Safety Council. This course includes a home-study portion, then skills and written testing with a certified instructor. Once you have registered, you will need to pick up or make arrangements for delivery of your home study materials. Participants must be physically able to perform the basic skills required for CPR. Participants will not be allowed to enter the class if they arrive more than 15 minutes after the class begins.

What is it like to live in the entertainment capital of the world? Well, you can experience the “sweet life” for yourself! On this trip, you’ll be escorted on a tour of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Venice Beach. You’ll stop (and shop!) on Rodeo Drive. Cruise down the Sunset Strip and stop on Hollywood Boulevard to walk on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and see the Mann’s Chinese and Kodak Theaters. See the Hollywood Sign, Mulholland Drive, Westwood Village, and much more! Just a few steps from the hostel, we will visit the beach, the pier amusement park complete with Ferris wheel, roller coaster and carnival games! There will also be time to shopping at the Third Street Promenade.
