Donor Spotlight

Hundreds of campers and community members enjoy Starwoods Outdoor Center near Clearwater every year. But after years of use, some of the decking at the camp was in need of an upgrade. A generous donation from the Goebel Family-Star Lumber Charitable Trust made that possible!

Three buildings at Camp Starwoods now feature new decking. The donation of 4,390 square feet of Timbertech Evolution Teak composite decking materials is a value of at least $43,000.

Previously, the Starwoods Lodge, Waterfront and Spring Creek buildings had older wood decking that was warped and splintered. The new decking has eliminated a growing safety hazard to our girl and adult members who frequently utilize the outdoor decks, and it ensures that these spaces are safe, functional and welcoming for decades to come!

“Since 1939, the Goebel family and Star Lumber have operated with the philosophy of giving back to the community a portion of what the community has given to them. We feel that it is a privilege to serve the Central Kansas region. It is with these thoughts that Star Lumber is proud to pledge 10 percent of pre-tax operating profits back to our communities. We are proud to maintain this long-standing tradition.” — An excerpt from StarLumber.com
