Representative Bowers took time out of her campaign schedule to come and talk to Girl Scouts. She helped the girls with their Inside Government Patch. Here she poses with troop 20107.
Chapman Junior Troop and Herington Junior Troop went to the state capitol in Topeka. They also went to the Kansas Historical Society Museum. Leader Jodi Reeves shared, “We actually got to go into the Senate and into the House of Representatives. Normally you just get to go into the Gallery above them.”
The Junior Girl Scout Troop along with Emily Ore of Brownie Troop 20145 went before Herington’s city commission meeting to ask that they proclaim Oct. 11th as Day of the Girl. This also helped the Junior girls with their Inside Government Patch. They did an excellent job in their presentation to the commission.
These troops also worked on the DEA Red Ribbon Week patch partnering with Deputy Sheriff Longbine from Dickinson County Sheriff’s office for a mini DARE program. The raised awareness in the community by making handouts and posters for Herington Elementary School.
