Molly Martens, now 21 years of age, is one of three University of Southern California students on the winning team of this year’s ImagiNations Design Competition for the Disney Corporation. Her team beat out 175 others nationwide. The contest was to design a ride or restaurant attraction for a Disney park. Molly’s use of the Girl Scout brand was evident as she and her two team mates designed a roller-coaster to mimic the scout’s experience in the movie “Up”. Molly borrowed Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland props from the council to portray the character.
This contest is the first step towards a future internship with the Disney Empire. She credits Girl Scouts for preparing her in her presentation style as well as her ability in social settings. She continues to be an advocate for Girl Scouts across Kansas to see the world as she did.
Molly’s story is not unlike other Girl Scouts. Her experience introduced team building skills as well as independent initiatives. She touched her community and sought out global experience. She is a Girl Scout!
